over 25 years, Marlene Curtis has had the dream to own and operate her own childcare facility that provides tender loving care and education too. Due to the great demand that exists for childcare and pre-school programs in the Kingman area, she felt that the time is now. |
Marlene has an Associates Degree in Child Development
as well as a
Bachelors Degree in Family Studies. She is also the mother
of four
daughters and grandmother to 7 children. Her career began in the
child care field as a home day care provider. After several years
she became
a pre-school teacher then moved into management
and for the past 15 years,
she has directed many centers in both
California and Arizona.
Marlene
has created a program that focus' on the Whole Child concept
of development.
This program is known as PIES. Pies stands
for the
Physical, Intellectual,
Emotional and Social skills
that every child needs
to learn. Sometimes we think that a child is born
with these skills, but
they are not. These skills must be taught, learned
and developed.
At Childrens Academy your child will be given the tools and
every
opportunity to develop these skills at their own pace.
All
staff at Childrens Academy must complete a 10 Module Training
program that
Marlene designed. This training program is being used by
several centers
throughout the state of Arizona. This program is designed
to educate teachers
on what is age appropriate, on state regulations, and
on standards set
by the director to enhance the quality of care for all
children from birth
to the age of 12.
The goal for Childrens Academy is to offer
quality childcare and also a
pre-school program that will enhance the educational
development of
every child. We all share the goal of making sure that your
child knows
that he or she is someone special, and needs to be educated
and
prepared for the challenges in life. The staff at Childrens Academy
is
expected to demonstrate love, integrity, generosity, self-discipline,
hard work and to simply treat others as they would want to be treated.
We
believe that every child is precious and has basic needs. Our staff will
work to instill proper manners and values, honesty and sharing, respect
and self worth in your child. It is our purpose to meet these needs when
your child is in our care by providing a safe, happy and loving environment
here at Childrens Academy.
